Well, I think the first section is this collision of the private with the public. The second is, you become public, and how does that look? And the third becomes a poetry handbook. Because it really was intended to be ‘how to write a poem,’ but of course the book is filled with bait-and-switch trails. And it’s also how to become a lesbian. If you thought you were going to get a nice book about becoming a poet here, you’re also going to be becoming a dyke, which might not be the desired narrative. So everybody possibly gets the wrong story.
